The flight from Amsterdam- Schiphol to the modern airport Yundum International Airport Banjul, situated in the capital of The Gambia, takes approximately six hours. So to Banjul the flight takes only 90 minutes more than flying to the Canary Isles.

Transavia flies on the Mondays (and in the period between December and march also on the Thursdays) from Amsterdam, usually with a tank stop in southern Spain or Tenerife, with a Boeing 737 to Banjul. Please note that you will have to pay extra for snacks and drinks onboard.
