Passport Renewal:
Due to a new regulation, in force since July 2007, our Consulate is not anymore aloud to renew passports. After 5 years you will have to apply for a new passport which has to be done in The Gambia.
You can ask a relative who is living in The Gambia to do this for you, this is to avoid that you will have to travel to The Gambia to get a new passport. If you ask a relative to do this for you, the following documents are required: - Copy of your current passport. - Passport photographs - Application form.
As soon as you have provided your relative with all items asked, he or she can apply for renewal of the passport for you in the Gambia. As soon as your new passport is ready, your relative can collect the new passport for you by the Gambian Authorities (in The Gambia you do not need to do that personally) and after that send the passport to you.
We do not know the exactly cost for the renewal of the passport. We advise you to contact The Embassy of the Republic of The Gambia in Brussels. The telephone number is: 00-32-640-10-49
Emergency Passport:
If you have to go to The Gambia yourself to renew your passport but your passport is no longer valid you can apply for an Emergency passport.
To give you an Emergency passport we need from you the following documents: - 2 photographs (must absolutely be the same) - Copy of your booking reservation - Copy of your expired passport - €35,00 (need to be paid in cash at our office)
You need, beforehand to make an appointment by telephone or e-mail at our office (Consulate in Amsterdam).
We will have to draw your attention to the fact that the Emergency passport is only valid for the voyage from Amsterdam to The Gambia. Upon arrival in The Gambia you will have to apply immediately for a new passport.
